Dr. Samuel M. Wapner attended Eastern Michigan University where he received his bachelors of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry in 1972. After graduating from EMU, he attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1976. He was both DPA certified in 1985 and TPA certified in 1996 at the Michigan College of Optometry. He is certified to diagnose, treat and manage diseases of the eye and use therapeutic and pharmacological agents.
While at the Illinois College of Optometry he was the recipient of the Ann Pollak Memorial award and the Harold Kohn Memorial award for excellence in optometric research and education. Dr. Wapner was presented with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian services from the Lions Clubs International Foundation in 1997. Recently he was awarded the equally prominent and respected Pontiac Lions Hero award for 30 years of dedicated service to residents in need. |
